About the Role
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: In this position, you will serve as a journey-level Power Plant Mechanic at a multipurpose hydroelectric facility. Full performance responsibilities are listed below.
What You'll Do
- →Perform general powerhouse mechanical equipment maintenance.
- →Perform machine work of varying degrees of difficulty and exactness.
- →Perform a variety of types of welding (oxygen-acetylene, shielded metal-arc, TIG, MIG).
- →Install and repair piping systems.
- →Perform a variety of types of cutting (oxygen-acetylene, carbon-arc), brazing, and soldering operations.
- →Maintain metal working equipment and accessories.
- →Operate the full range of hoisting equipment, from tuggers, manlifts, and shop cranes, through large bridge, and gantry cranes, up to and including mobile cranes and live-boom hoisting equipment.
- →Perform rigging for all routine work in accordance with established rigging practice.
