About the Position: This position is located at Big Bend Project Office, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and situated in Fort Thompson, South Dakota.
What You'll Do
- →Inspect, test, repair, calibrate and program the following: instruments, meters, transducers, relays, supervisory control systems, data loggers, computers, programmable logic controllers, digital PBX systems/VOIP, event recorders, etc.
- →Operate various air or electric portable tools such as drills, grinders, solder gun, etc., to rework or build new parts and to install various electronic equipment.
- →Use, maintain and calibrate all shop and field test equipment such as signal generators, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, counters, multimeters, oscilloscopes, resistance bridges, etc.
- →Occasionally, design and fabricate special test equipment required for troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
- →Make modifications to improve operation of equipment and ensure that such changes are incorporated into records, drawings, etc.
- →Make software/firmware installations and upgrades to various equipment.
- →Analyze present systems or problems to determine changes in maintenance or installation, and coordinate proposals with responsible supervisor.
- →Assist in estimating quantities and cost of materials, parts, tools and maintaining sufficient stock level for operating and emergency needs.
- →Use manufacturer's catalogs, drawings, and wiring diagrams in preparing requisitions.
