The St. Louis VA Health Care System is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Neurologist to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will provide outstanding care to our veteran patients, deliver educational support to medical trainees, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our services.
What You'll Do
- →Patient Care: Provide comprehensive neurological care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurological disorders.
- →Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examinations, and appropriate diagnostic testing.
- →Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- →Perform and interpret specialized procedures, such as botulinum toxin injections, EMG/NCV testing and EEG interpretation, commensurate with experience and training.
- →Consultation and Collaboration: Offer consultation services to primary care providers and other specialties within the St.
- →Louis VA Health Care System.
- →Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and other VA staff members to ensure clear understanding of medical conditions and treatment plans.
- →Education and Training: Provide mentorship, supervision, and teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows.
- →Participate in continuing education activities to stay current with advances in neurology.
- →Research and Quality Improvement: Engagement in research is encouraged, commensurate with interest, experience and training.
- →Participate in quality improvement projects to enhance patient care outcomes and service delivery.
- →Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely medical records and documentation.
- →Adhere to VA policies, procedures, and regulations.
- →Attend departmental meetings and contribute to organizational initiatives.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
