About the Role
*****A recruitment/relocation incentive may be offered to highly qualified candidate(s).***** The Psychiatry Service Staff Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care to Veterans referred for Mental Health services within the Psychiatrist's approved privileges. In addition to Veteran care, the Psychiatrist may have responsibilities in other areas such as education and research. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - Please see below.
What You'll Do
- →The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric care in an outpatient setting, identifying Veterans' mental and medical health needs and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs.
- →Incumbent serves as the medical subject matter expert within their assigned team and may be responsible for coordinating activities of other health service personnel, resolving problems affecting Veteran care, and providing appropriate education for the Veteran and/or family members regarding the Veteran's care, condition, and its management.
- →Care is provided in accordance with VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines as measured by the Peer Review Program and various quality metrics.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
