The DCOS serves as a senior clinical leader and advisor, supporting the Chief of Staff (COS) in the oversight, coordination, and integration of all clinical services. The purpose of this position is to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, veteran-centered care across the facility, associated Fredericksburg Health Care Center (HCC), and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).

- →Staff Development & Engagement: Supports recruitment, retention, and professional development of clinical staff; fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment; and ensures effective communication of clinical priorities.
- →Academic Affiliations & Research: Oversees academic relationships and Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs; facilitates integration of research and clinical care while ensuring rigorous ethical responsibility and safety.
- →Acting Authority: Serves as Acting Chief of Staff in the absence of the COS, with full delegated authority to manage clinical operations.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
