About the Role
About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. This position is located within an Outpatient Environment. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
What You'll Do
- →Receives and reviews prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
- →Determines type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- →Enters prescriptions into inpatient computer system reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.
- →Coordinates with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
- →Obtains the pharmaceutical, prepares package labels, visually inspects the medication in the bottle to be dispensed, verifies appropriate medication, checks the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness.
