What You'll Do
- →MAJOR DUTIES: Serves as Personal Financial Management (PFM) Specialist, responsible for the overall management of the installation¿s comprehensive financial, consumer affairs services, and information and referral program.
- →Responsibility to improve active duty personnel, retirees, family members and DoD civilians personal financial status and to enhance their awareness of consumer issues and law and emergency assistance services.
- →Plans, directs, and implements comprehensive PFM education, training, and counseling programs that emphasizes individual financial responsibility and accountability.
- →Develops, schedules, and conducts financial classes, workshops, and briefs to include programs that encompass the needs of the focus population.
- →Information and Referral responsibilities include Welcome Aboard Briefs, Relocation/Moving assistance and workshops, Sponsorship Training services, and maintaining the military installation website information for those seeking relocation information.
- →Develops and implements a program of direct counseling assistance on consumer affairs, debt reduction/elimination, budget counseling, consumer awareness/protections, and financial planning.
- →Interviews clients and uses assessment tools and techniques to compile detailed data on assets and liabilities in order to analyze and evaluate the level of indebtedness.
- →Works with Marines to help educate them on the steps to reduce or defer payments with businesses and financial institutions, reschedule payment plans, and refinance loans.
- →Develops Personal Financial Management course curricula, conducts training, markets the program, and prepares accompanying resource materials.
- →Provides mandatory training on a continuing basis for in processing personnel.
- →May coordinate with Staff Judge Advocate Legal Assistance and Security Managers and agencies in managing complex cases involving security clearances, foreclosures, evictions, garnishments, and repossessions.
- →Conducts mandatory refresher training for Marine personnel and families who have written insufficient funds checks both on and off the installation.
- →Consults and briefs commanders, installation leadership, and community at large to keep them abreast of local financial and consumer issues.
- →Serves as the command representative on various installation military and approved civilian committees and councils (e.g., Credit Union Advisory Board).
