Interpretive Rangers develop and present educational programs including guided walks and presentations, and working with audiences in a variety of park settings. What You'll Do
- →Presents educational programming to K-12 students both in the classrooms and on field trips in the National Parks Service unit.
- →Researches, develops, and presents a variety of original, thematic interpretative outreach programs to school groups of all ages both in the preserve and in neighboring communities, i.e. wet walks, canoe trips, bike trips, Power Point presentations, demonstrations, night sky programs.
- →Assists in the facilitation of a variety of teacher workshops.
- →Works on a variety of assigned education and interpretation projects that may include revising and developing teaching materials, lesson plans and activities that are age appropriate.
- →Participates in and assists in planning of Special events and festivals with partner agencies and organizations to provide information, programs and activities.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to a higher-level childcare background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓Government housing may be available but is not guaranteed.
- ✓Use find a park to contact specific parks for more information on government housing.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work overtime and/or shift work.
- ✓You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
- ✓You will also submit a photocopy of their valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists.
- ✓Lastly, selectee may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by selectee.
- ✓Please indicate in your application whether you possess a valid State driver's license.
- ✓Must be able to maintain a bicycle and bicycle equipment, including performing routine safety checks and basic upkeep to ensure all gear remains in safe, working condition.
