About the Role
About the Position: Provides paralegal support to District Counsel, Deputy District Counsel, attorneys in Office of Counsel and other personnel in Honolulu District, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. MILITARY SEPARATED (NON-RETIREE): Military members may be appointed while on terminal leave, before the effective date of their military separation. Applications from members of the Armed Forces will only be accepted from military members that indicate they are immediately appointable within 120 days.
What You'll Do
- →Screens solicitations for proper format and checks for any inconsistencies and provides legalsufficiency comments to action attorney or directly to project manager or contracting personnel.
- →Independently researches and analyzes specific factualand legal questions which present a variety of issues, including new and complex areas.
- →Performs litigation support for complex litigation cases and reviews claims, complaints and researches relevant legal principles.
- →Conducts investigations, interviews witnesses, and prepares litigation reports,labor standard enforcement reports and compiles complex and voluminous Government Briefs andRule 4 Files.
- →Responsible for processing Tort Claims and responsible for discretionary activity in analyzing and evaluating tort actions filed against the Unites States and arising under the Federal Tort Claims Act and AR 27-20.
- →Compiles and maintains report and statistical data for all protests, mistakes in bid, claims and appeals, EEO cases, general litigation, FOIA, and other legal matters on the Corps of Engineers Matter Tracking System.
- →Acts as Alternate Freedom of Information Act Officer (AFOIA) and coordinator for all requestsmade under FOIA and acts as Government notary for the District.
