What You'll Do

  • If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team in the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of Texas (SDTX).
  • As a Paralegal Specialist (Immigration/Violent Crimes) in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), you will: Performing extensive and thorough legal research into the legislative history, precedent cases, decisions, and opinions that may be applicable to particular legal matters.
  • Drafting initial legal and administrative briefs, U.S.
  • Attorney Office motions, oppositions to defense motions and correspondence for Assistant U.S.
  • Attorneys review.
  • Organizing data and developing trial exhibits such as statistical charts, graphs, and timelines to be presented in court as corroborative evidence.
  • Preparing and organizing trial exhibits, documents, memoranda, reports and correspondence relating to cases for review by Assistant U.S.
  • Attorneys review.
  • Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
  • If selected for the position, you will be assigned to the Criminal Division.

Requirements

  • All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
  • Department of Education.
