What You'll Do
- →The United States Attorney for the District of Utah is responsible for prosecuting all federal crimes committed within the district.
- →The Office also defends the United States, its agencies, officers, and employees in civil actions; enforces the regulatory authority of federal agencies, and recovers funds from individuals who violate criminal, civil and regulatory laws.
- →The Office is divided into four divisions: the Administrative Division, Appellate Division, Civil Division and Criminal Division.
- →If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for paralegal support on a variety of complex assignments.
- →Typical work assignments will include: Prepares a variety of substantive legal documents to include motions to enforce plea agreements and other appellate court motions, extradition requests, letters rogatory requests, and documentation relevant to other actions related to the acquisition of evidence and/or testimony for civil or criminal investigations.
- →Conducts interviews of agents and potential witnesses to assist the Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in preparation for grand jury or trial; reviews, summarizes and outlines grand jury and/or trial.
- →Utilizes a variety of automated legal research tools as well as public information databases and other automated resources to research cases or program specific legal matters.
- →Provides litigative case management and organizes cases for court presentation by preparing and organizing exhibits containing a variety of visual material, e.g., statistical charts and photographs.
- →Compiles, organizes and indexes various discoveries and evidence exhibits for trial, witness testimony' as it relates to specific criminal charge evidence, and develops and compiles jury instructions to assist AUSA in preparing for trial.
- →Provides advice to attorney and other legal support staff on the most effective and efficient ways to prepare, present and maintain a variety of legal documents.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- ✓All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
- ✓Department of Education.
