What You'll Do

  • If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for affirmative and defensive civil litigaiton.
  • Typical work assignments will include: Prepare and organize documentation, evidence, or other documentary data for trials.
  • Provide advice on the most efficient method for preparing legal documents.
  • Use multiple online legal systems to research, evaluate, and analyze a variety of routine legal topics and/or points of law.
  • Draft initial legal and administrative briefs, motions, oppositions to defense motions and correspondence for Assistant United States Attorney's (AUSA) review.
  • Develop and enter various case material into a computer database.
  • Prepare and organize exhibits, documents, memoranda, reports, and correspondence relating to cases for review by AUSAs for interviews, depositions, or use at trial.
  • Provide litigation case management and organize cases for court presentation.
  • Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
  • This position is considered a career ladder opportunity, with a full performance level of GS-09.
  • If selected at a lower grade level, you may be non-competitively promoted to the next grade level at the discretion of your supervisor and is contingent upon meeting regulatory and legal requirements for promotion, satisfactory performance, and the availability of higher-level work.

Requirements

  • All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
  • Department of Education.
