Ophthalmologist - Retina Specialist

About the Role
This position is located at the Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, New York and supports the Ophthalmology Section of the Surgery Service. If selected, you will provide support to the eye clinic, inpatient services, eye operating room, and Emergency Department. You will follow established guidelines, ethics, polices, and protocols of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Stratton VAMC, and the profession. You will function as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff.
What You'll Do
- →Your basic responsibilities will include (but not be limited to): Providing comprehensive clinical and surgical ophthalmological care to our Veteran patients.
- →Providing diagnostic and therapeutic services in inpatient and outpatient settings, ordering diagnostic studies and procedures, and perform surgical and non-surgical general ophthalmology procedures.
- →Supervising ophthalmology residents in the eye clinic, short procedure room, laser room and the operating room.
- →Initiating changes in the system for delivering care based on evidence-based medicine research and /or studies.
- →Assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs.
- →Effectively and creatively teaching and providing guidance to others involved in the delivery of the educational program.

- →Education Debt Reduction Program: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

- →Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
