About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Occupational Safety and Health, located in Artesia, NM. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • This position starts at a salary of $106,437.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $138,370.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

  • Typical duties include: Serving as an expert in the field of nutrition science, providing evidence-based expertise and advice to multiple CBP academy physical exercise and physical training programs, as well as, to academy administrative and operational field locations.
  • Reviewing the nutritional performance requirements of trainees and incumbents through careful evaluation of academy training curricula and incumbents' work requirements.
  • Representing Occupational Safety and Health Division management officials in briefings to CBP academy administration and training staff, CBP headquarters, related DHS components, and other Federal agency officials, as appropriate.
  • Providing professional leadership and program direction in administration, practices, education, and research related to nutrition as an integral component of a national safety and health program.
  • Developing standards, policies, guidelines, and criteria concerning the delivery of nutrition education and services.
