About the Role
Join the Minneapolis VA Health Care System as a Nursing Assistant in Primary Care. In this role, you will support Veterans with a range of health needs, provide direct patient care, observe and report condition changes, and collaborate with the care team to ensure safe, high-quality, Veteran-centered services.
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but not limited to: Provide direct care for Veterans with acute to chronic conditions, including those with complex needs.
- →Perform nursing procedures within scope: enemas, catheterization, colostomy care, simple dressings, skin care, and application of braces/prosthetics.
- →Utilize glucose monitoring equipment and report deviations to appropriate clinical staff.
- →Monitor and document intake/output and report abnormalities.
- →Participate in treatment planning, provide input to the care team, and document patient information in approved formats.
- →Promote Veteran independence, autonomy, and engagement through individualized care and support.
- →Work Schedule: This is an intermittent position.
- →Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees serve under an excepted or competitive service appointment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty.
- →A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance.

Requirements

- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
