About the Position: The Nurse (Operating Room) provides support to the A. T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir VA, helping ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and facility operations. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Ensure sterile technique and anticipates the Maternal-Child Surgical Care Team needs.
- →Responsible for aseptic technique during the preparation for and duration of the operative procedure.
- →Monitor and utilized simple and highly technical equipment.
- →Ensuring equipment is working properly, preoperatively and throughout operative procedure.
- →Monitor all operative processes (i.e. sterile technique, equipment functioning, patient responses, etc.) Initiate and intervene with immediate corrective action regarding all operative processes.
- →Conduct initial perioperative assessment, acquiring pertinent information, such as allergies, NPO status and consent.
- →Implement individualized nursing care plans to include safety precautions, correct positioning, infection control precautions, aseptic and/or sterile practices, dispensing and/or administering medications.
- →Log out and prepares controlled drugs and administers to patient as prescribed.
- →Maintain medical record.
- →Document patient’s status on a continual basis and revised plan of care as needed.
- →Provide information to patient/family regarding surgical procedure and pre/post operative care.
- →Operate and assist in the care and handling of a variety of supplies and highly specialized equipment.
