About the Role
Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Responsible for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Influences care by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and creating process improvement initiatives.
What You'll Do
- →First-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned units/areas of responsibility and provides coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed.
- →Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →Function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- →Enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- →Lead quality improvement and system redesign activities based on data and track progress until completion.
- →Responsible for performance improvement data, customer service, patient satisfaction, and employee and patient safety for their assigned units/areas of responsibility.
- →Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and selective consideration of the difficulty, the requirements of the assignments, the capabilities of the subordinates, and evaluation of the performance of subordinates.
- →Ensure that the subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice.
- →Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
- →The Nurse Manager for Clinical Practice provides leadership, administrative and clinical support over all clinical staff within the Clinical Practice section of Nursing Operations.
- →This includes our NA Clinical Transport team, RN/NA Resource/Float team, and intermittent RN/NA team.
- →The Clinical Practice section supports all inpatient areas (Acute Care, GEC, and Mental Health) to provide frontline direct patient care.
- →NA Clinical Transport team supports the Veterans at C.W.
- →Bill Young VAMC in transporting to and from appointments timely and safely.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
