About the Role
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until June 29, 2026 or when vacant positions have been filled. The first group of eligible applicants will be reviewed June 15, 2026. What You'll Do
- →Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Supervisory specialty area: Community Care/Personal Care Service.
- →Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed.
- →Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- →Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
- →Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- →Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- →Enhances care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- →Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- →This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments.
- →Supports the Chief Nurse of Community Care in operations of the department.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
