About the Role
About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. This position is located at Guthrie Army Health Clinic at Fort Drum, NY in the Orthopedic Service Department. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
What You'll Do
- →Establish and monitor the sterile field, overseeing paraprofessional personnel, and assist physicians with preoperative counseling and documentation.
- →Intraoperatively, the perform hands-on assistance for the surgeon during sterile invasive procedures, both open and arthroscopic.
- →Manage comprehensive patient care during advanced and difficult procedures, providing physical and psychological support, initiating emergency actions like CPR, and administering medications per orders.
- →Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists with complex or potentially life-threatening procedures such as administering intraarticular medication, superficial anesthetic, insertion of invasive lines, chest tubes, tracheotomies, etc.
- →Coordinate patient transfer with Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) personnel to ensure continuity of care as the patient transitions from surgery to post-anesthesia care.
- →Assign work to military, civilian, and contract nursing personnel based on scope of practice, competencies, priorities, and patient care requirements, ensuring optimal resource utilization, and implements evidence-based nursing care.
