About the Role
The Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) is located at Chillicothe VA Medical Center under the Chief of Staff. The Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and influence the organizational healthcare mission.
What You'll Do
- →Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Demonstrates understanding of the medical center's organizational structure and the role informatics plays across departments of the organization.
- →Demonstrates the core informatics functions at the intermediate to advanced proficiency level to include content management, application support, health information technology system optimization, enterprise data management, business architecture management, partnership management, requirements management, and change.
- →Functions as an administrator, educator, consultant, and mentor who possesses a wide range of experience and leadership ability.
- →Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN).
- →Assists the executive leadership team with healthcare operations and the functions and activities expected of them.
- →Contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of Veteran care.
- →Evaluates how clinical information systems impact users and patients, promotes clinical adoption of systems, and acts a catalyst for change.
- →Provides guidance and oversight of program management to ensure proper resource utilization.
- →Oversees strategic planning, resource allocation, policy implementation, and decision-making methods within the health informatics service line (i.e., via co-chair role of the HI Integrated Governance Body).
- →Utilizes innovative practice patterns and specializations to continuously develop the informatics role and associated competencies, aligning it with the strategic needs of the organization.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
