This position is located in Chief Nuclear Reactor Inspection, Region IV Division of Reactor Safety, Regional Support Branch. The supervisor is Jeffrey Josey. This position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. This position is subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements.
What You'll Do
- →The successful candidate will perform the full range of Nuclear Systems Engineer/Scientist duties.
- →Such duties include but are not limited to: Provides advice and technical evaluation to NSIR/DIRO and Regional office staffs involving issues associated with the activities of NRC licensees and their facilities.
- →Assigned as the cognizant NRC technical representative in the continuously staffed NRC Operations Center or Region IV Incident Response Center at least 10% of the time.
- →In this capacity, directly receives, assesses, and responds to notifications of emergencies or reportable events occurring at NRC licensed facilities, radiological transportation accidents and other radiological events.
- →Notifying appropriate NRC personnel and other government offices in accordance with established procedures and timely safety assessment of the event after immediate response actions are completed.
- →This position requires working irregular working hours at least 10% per year.
- →Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, are worked. ''IMPORTANT NOTE" Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete training duties under instruction, formal classroom training, required NRC training and obtain certification as a Regional Operations Officer(ROO).

- ✓You must meet basic education and professional knowledge requirements that apply to Federal engineering and sciences positions for the grade levels to which you are applying.
- ✓Note: Engineering technology degrees are not generally qualifying unless supplemented by other evidence of the individual's professional knowledge (e.g., current P.E. license or EIT examination results, as discussed above).
