You will serve as a NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the NUCLEAR MATERIAL ORDERING BRANCH of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. SALARY RANGE CLARIFICATION: GS-11: $88,599 - $111,994 GS-12: $101,092 - $129,129
What You'll Do
- →You will guide and exercise technical control over shipyard work to ensure the safety and economy of the submarine propulsion plant.
- →You will carry out a continuing review of engineering and production work to ensure the requirements for control of the nuclear propulsion plant are met.
- →You will provide engineering support to the supply program for the procurement, inspection, and acceptance of critical nuclear reactor plant equipment and materials.
- →You will perform the advance technical planning functions necessary to prepare the shipyard for forthcoming availabilities and overhaul work on the propulsion plants of nuclear-powered submarines.
- →You will review drawings related to the nuclear propulsion plant for technical adequacy and interpret engineering tasks to personnel.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
