About the Role
The Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nephrologist to serve as a Fee Basis. The Nephrologist shall provide comprehensive nephrology care, including outpatient and inpatient services. Fee Basis is a "as needed" position. The fee basis is not to exceed the fiscal year, but can be extended as needed, based on the service's needs.
What You'll Do
- →Fee Basis providers for the Nephrology department in response to workload changes helps address an array of issues, including increased patient volume, expanded services, and the well-being of current staff".
- →Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and renal-related systemic illnesses.
- →Providing dialysis services, including evaluation for initiation of dialysis, patient management, and coordination with dialysis staff.
- →Performing procedures such as renal biopsies, placement of a catheter for dialysis, and related interventions.
- →Coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams.
- →Providing consultations for other healthcare providers in the facility.
- →Participating in educational activities, including training of medical students, residents, and other health professionals.
- →Ensuring documentation is timely and compliant with VA standards.
- →Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- →Timely completion of clinical notes in the electronic health record (EHR).
- →Attendance and participation in relevant departmental meetings, morbidity and mortality conferences, and quality improvement projects.
- →Completion of required training, such as privacy, security, and compliance with VA regulations.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
