This vacancy is for a GS-0871-13, Naval Architect located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, USCG MARINE SAFETY CENTER in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.
What You'll Do
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Reviewing and evaluating design proposals of vessel structures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations administered by the Coast Guard.
- →Providing technical support to MSC staff engineers, ship owners, operators, engineers, consulting engineers and system vendors, marine inspectors, and classification society representatives.
- →Reviewing loading configurations or stability assumptions and develops description of operating restrictions that ensures the vessel's stability is within the limits allowed by the standards applying to it.
- →Interpreting, implementing, and advising on all laws, regulations, and other standards applicable to passenger vessels, towing vessels, cargo/industrial vessels, tank vessels, tank barges, and offshore supply vessels.
- →Representing the Marine Safety Center at national level meetings or in committees with other government agencies, technical societies, class societies, and maritime design standard organizations.
