This Position is located in Seasonal Staffing Office-Fort Scott National Historic Site, in the Resource Management Division. The typical seasonal period is May-February but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. What You'll Do
- →Museum Technician (Seasonal) GS-1016-05 Standard Duties: Prepare, maintain, and organize manual and automated curatorial records including accession records, catalog records, donation forms, inventories, and object lists.
- →Files records in accession folders and affixes catalog numbers to objects.
- →Creates catalog records for objects and maintains and updates cataloging and database.
- →Enters cataloging data into the designated NPS catalog program using established NPS procedures Implements museum environmental monitoring program.
- →This includes gathering data, maintaining the monitoring equipment, and preparing permanent data records.
- →Implements museum maintenance and housekeeping schedules including performing routine cleaning of objects as directed and according to established standards.
- →Assists in scheduled cleaning of museum collections storage.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓You may be required to travel 1 day per month.
- ✓Applicants must be at least 18 years old due to the hazardous work (i.e. driving a motor vehicle, use of circular saw, etc.) You must be able to lift 25 pounds or more.
- ✓To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
- ✓Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
