The purpose of the position is to operate a variety of motor vehicles to transport patients, staff, cargo, and mail in support of facility operations. Work may require operating vehicles over local, intercity, and interstate routes.
What You'll Do
- →Operates various types of vehicles to and from medical facilities and designated stops.
- →Adheres to transport schedules while operating in a safe manner and complying with all applicable traffic laws.
- →Completes vehicle inspections and transportation logs.
- →Ensures timely and accurate delivery of pickup, inspects all items for physical condition, quantity, status, and obtains signatures as needed.
- →Maintains and submits required paperwork and logs associated with cargo/mail duties.
- →Performs vehicle-related safety and compliance responsibilities in support of transportation operations.
- →Conducts pre-trip and pos-trip inspections of assigned vehicles to ensure safe operating condition.
- →Identifies and reports mechanical issues to service level leadership/supervisors.
- →Keeps the Fleet/Transportation Supervisor fully informed of any variations in job assignments.
- →Completes and maintains required trainings.
- →Provides interim support to other FMS/Engineering Personnel as assigned.
- →Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of vehicles, and vehicle accessories.
- →Knowledge of all VHA, VISN Medical Center Policies and Procedures and processes.
- →Skill in Microsoft platforms.
