About the Role

About the Position: This is a Full-time, Seasonal Mixed Secondary Teacher (0369 Culinary Arts/0320 Social Studies) position for Shape High School, located in Shape, Belgium. Federal employees in Shape are currently entitled to receive a 42% Post Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, develop, and organize long-range Culinary Arts lesson plans and daily classwork to ensure in-depth, standards-based learning within the allotted time.
  • Establish and maintain a healthy learning environment by communicating clear expectations for student success and behavior.
  • Instruct students in Culinary Arts and grade levels using a variety of teaching methods and materials adapted to their differentiated needs.
  • Support, counsel, and motivate individual students to meet or exceed grade-level standards by drawing on personal knowledge of their backgrounds and interests.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and special education educators to meet the individualized learning requirements of each student.
  • Maintain accurate individual and class records using the school information system to track student progress and achievement.
  • Integrate approved technology into instruction to improve the quality of Culinary Arts instruction and enhance student learning.
  • Select, adapt, or modify teaching methods or materials that experience indicates will be most effective in teaching the assigned grade level(s) and subject matter.
  • Develop lesson plans, under the general supervision of the School Principal, independently within the framework of approved curriculum standards, course outlines, texts, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • FOREIGN EDUCATION: Foreign Degrees and Course Work from Non-accredited Institutions.
  • Credits or degrees earned from a foreign college or university must be evaluated prior to acceptance.
  • Three evaluation procedures are acceptable: The work may be evaluated and interpreted by the International Education Research Foundation, Inc., Credential Evaluation Service, Post Office Box 3665, Culver City, CA 90231-3665 or www.ierf.org/ or 310-258-9451.
  • Graduates of non-accredited institutions may have their undergraduate work validated by admittance to graduate school and completion of a minimum of 5 semester hours of credit in a regionally accredited graduate college.
  • Failure to provide all the required information as stated in the vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating.
