About the Position: The Medical Instrument Technician (Gastroenterology) position is locate at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center, Director for Medicine, Department of Medicine, Gastroenterology Clinic, Fort Belvoir, VA. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Preparing patients for invasive procedures, including preoperative data collection.
- →Providing patient education and information before and after procedures.
- →Assisting Medical in the invasive gastroenterological procedures.
- →Starting Intravenous lines.
- →Recording required documentation before during and after procedures.
- →Disinfecting endoscopic equipment.
- →Generating procedure reports.
- →Operating video endoscopy equipment.
- →Applying techniques of therapeutic endoscopy, including electrocoagulation and injection hemostasis.
- →Performing preventive maintenance on all equipment.
- →Handling biopsy tissue and other material obtained from patients during procedures, including proper recording and transport to the laboratory.
- →Interacting directly with the Department of Pathology.
- →Conducting hands-on training and technical oversight of other students and technologists.
