About the Role

The incumbent serves as the Chief, Business Operations Service for Battle Creek VA Medical Center, with full responsibility for directing, integrating, and evaluating administrative operations that support healthcare delivery across the Medical Center and associated VA Outpatient Clinics. The Chief, Business Operations Service reports to the Associate Director and serves as a key member of the medical center leadership team.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties include, but are not limited to: Directs systems governing workload capture, data validation, and administrative processes supporting revenue-related activities.
  • Oversees processes that directly affect organizational performance metrics, reporting requirements, and resource allocation decisions.
  • Advises executive leadership on workload trends, performance risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Analyzes trends and identifies systemic issues affecting data quality, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Leads analyses to evaluate administrative program effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Develops and implements improvements to administrative operations, data management processes, and access performance systems.
  • Establishes performance measures and monitoring tools where existing methods are insufficient to assess outcomes.
  • Directs and integrates administrative operations that support patient access, scheduling, eligibility, enrollment, and clinic flow across the medical center and associated outpatient clinics.
  • Establishes service-wide priorities, performance expectations, and accountability mechanisms for core BOS functions.
  • Serves as the primary authority for administrative operations affecting access, clinic utilization, and clinical throughput.
  • Monitors performance indicators related to access and scheduling and implements corrective actions to address system-wide performance issues.
  • Coordinates with clinical and administrative leadership to resolve barriers affecting patient flow across multiple service lines and care settings.
  • Serves as a primary advisor to executive leadership on administrative operations, access performance, and related organizational issues.
  • Participates in executive planning and decision-making activities that affect organizational priorities and operations.
