The technician will provide a full range of duties for the NCS/EMG (Electromyography) and EEG (Electroencephalography) sections of the Neurodiagnostic Department as well as for the EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) located in the Epilepsy Center of Excellence (ECoE) at the William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. The technician will work independently as well as directly with the Neurology Service Chief, Staff Physicians, the Medical Instrument Technician (MIT) Supervisor,
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The MIT Supervisor performs higher level duties at least over 25% of time which are of a wide range of variety and are more non-standard and complex.
- →These include outpatients, inpatients, electrocerebral inactivity (ECI) recordings. - Oversees and performs advanced neurodiagnostic procedures in complex environments such as the operating room, epilepsy monitoring rooms, radiology, intensive care units and at the patient's bedside as needed.
- →These include intracarotid sodium amobarbital procedure (WADA), carotid endarterectomy (CEA), electrocorticography (ECoG), Motor and Speech mapping These include carotid Endarterectomy (CEA), WADA, Electrocorticography (ECoG), Motor/Speech Mapping (IOM), thoracic aneurysm clipping, aortic aneurysm clipping. 2.
- →Testing: - Able to deal with more complex or difficult patients. - Utilizes the 10-20 and advanced 10-10 method of electrode application during EEG, LTM, NCS, IOM, EPs - Creates and follows established laboratory protocols in performing standard and specialized EEG, LTM, NCS, IOM, EPs.
