The mission of the Office of Commercial Space Transportation is to oversee and enable the safest commercial space transportation system in the world during commercial launch or reentry activities, while being committed to propelling commercial space transportation safety into the future. The incumbent is a recognized subject matter expert in a specialized area and provides leadership for highly complex and challenging activities under the minimal direction of a manager or executive.
What You'll Do
- →Serves as Management and Program Analyst and may act as a principal specialist to develop new and innovative approaches, methodologies, and/or techniques or as a team leader to define and direct challenging projects/programs/activities.
- →Applies experience and expert knowledge that are applicable to his or her discipline to conduct functional activities for projects/programs that often require the development of new and innovative approaches.
- →Identifies and resolves challenging problems or issues that often cross-organizational boundaries and impact on the accomplishment of strategic objectives.
- →Searches and analyzes a variety of materials; coordinates background information; prepares and reviews management reports and/or contractual documents for senior management presentations or to use in response to inquiries or to clarify issues.
- →Applies knowledge of FAA's policies and objectives to identify, define, and organize resources for large projects/programs/work activities.
- →Plans, schedules and conducts analyses/studies of proposed program plans for accomplishing program activities.
- →Determines from a programmatic perspective the viability, consistency and accuracy of plans and projections and conducts reviews to determine resource levels required to accomplish programs in a sound and efficient manner.
- →Provides supporting rationale on the establishment or clarification of objectives.
- →Ensures that plans are consistent with program guidance.
- →Conducts analyses in the review and evaluation of program activities.
- →These analyses are conducted to ensure proper program integration and conformance to policy, completeness, and adequacy of operations in meeting goals and objectives.
- →Prepares recommendations based on such reviews, and discusses recommended courses of action with program managers to resolve major problem areas.
- →These recommendations include but are not limited to financial, programmatic interfaces, and impact of not meeting goals and objectives.
- →Reviews and analyzes draft regulations, new policies, operating instructions, standard operating procedures, and directives referred to the group for comment.
