About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, Strategic Planning and Analysis Directorate, located in Washington, D.C. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • This position allows you to use your knowledge and expertise as an analyst and advisor to management on organization aspects of the assigned mission requiring the application of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods to assess complex management and program processes and systems.
  • This position starts at a salary of $102,415.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $133,142.00 (GS-12, Step 10).

  • Typical duties include: Analyzing and evaluating program data, business processes, and internal controls to identify impediments, redundancies, risks, and deficiencies; and formulating recommendations, optimization strategies, and corrective actions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Planning, conducting, and participating in special studies and management reviews of administrative and operational functions; developing and documenting clear business processes; and providing advice and guidance to management on program and process improvements.
  • Assisting in implementing, coordinating, and overseeing a variety of program activities, including monitoring progress against goals and objectives, and providing feedback and guidance to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Tracking and analyzing data; preparing reports and analyses to support short- and long-range planning; and ensuring compliance with applicable directives, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Preparing and delivering briefings, presentations, and reports for supervisors and senior leadership; organizing recurring and ad hoc meetings to discuss program issues; and ensuring timely, accurate information is available to support executive decision-making.
