About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, San Francisco Field Office, Area port of San Francisco, located in San Francisco, California. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Further selections may also be made for additional organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise to analyze and advise management on a wide range of program activities.
  • Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by developing policies, conducting special studies, and providing technical assistance.
  • This position starts at a salary of $111,896.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $145,468.00 (GS-12, Step 10).

  • Typical work assignments include: Preparing a variety of comprehensive status reports, summaries, and briefing papers, which identify problems, assess the overall condition, and outline issues, solutions and recommendations.
  • Adapting existing analytical methods and techniques to specific issues and developing new approaches to resolve complex problems and issues.
  • Reviewing information, reconciling conflicting data, and devising new and modified methods to analyze findings.
  • Advising management of unique conditions and issues that affect administrative functions and providing guidance on interpretation and implementation of new and revised legislation, policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Reviewing and evaluating established program policies and procedures to determine gaps where additional guidance is needed; formulating and recommending additional policies or procedures, or modifications to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of current program operations.
