The primary purpose of this position is to perform as Management and Program Analyst providing long-term institutional continuity on academic and organizational management initiatives, requirements, validation, resourcing, and related issues.

What You'll Do

  • Applying Joint Special Operations experience, analyzes, develops, and evaluates detailed plans, goals, and objectives for long-range implementation of Joint Special Operations academic and educational concepts strategy relating to major command program(s).
  • Documents planning and programming decision in appropriate formats to meet United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and Component Command's requirements.
  • Actively participates in strategic planning to improve organizational direction and focus using strategic planning tools and techniques.
  • Maintains consistent dialogue and interaction with the JSOU-EA Commandant and the President of JSOU as well as all senior special operations commanders, staff directors, DoD and civilian educational institutions.
  • Prepares and/or reviews position papers and other necessary documents for negotiations between USSOCOM senior officials and their counterparts in DoD and other military service.
  • Incumbent is responsible to ensure the core classified national information protection security disciplines of information are fully covered from a policy and programmic view point to ensure overall information protection requirements meet mission requirements.

  • Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave.
  • At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.
  • Active duty members applying for a civil service position without submitting a valid certification memo or DD-Form 214 with their application will render the member ineligible for the position.
  • Note: The VOW Act provides tentative preference.
  • If appointed, a DD Form-214 must be submitted upon receipt
