About the Role

What You'll Do

  • The position is located in the Office of the Executive Secretariat and Regulatory Affairs (OES), within the Immediate Office of the Secretary at the Department of the Interior, WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
  • At the full performance level (GS-14) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Reviews regulatory documents and Federal Register notices prepared by other bureaus in the Department for compliance with relevant laws, regulations, Executive Orders, and departmental policies.
  • Supports and/or communicates the Department's responses to OMB requests for comment on proposed regulations and policies through formal written reports.
  • Serves as an advisor to management officials and provides guidance and counsel to facilitate their responsibility to exercise oversight of regulatory and secretarial documents to ensure they meet standards.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on the implementation of laws, policies, regulations, and programs that govern its actions such as the Administrative Procedure Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Federal Land Policy Management Act, the Endangered Species Act and Executive Orders.
  • Consolidates and compiles recommendations, suggestions, concerns or questions on regulatory proposals, identifying where comments may conflict between bureaus or the Department.
  • Collaborates with bureaus and DOI policy officials to arrive at responses that reflect Departmental policy.
  • Salary Information: $143,913-187,093 *First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level.
  • This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
