This position is located in the Marina Branch, Support Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties and Responsibilities Under limited supervision from the Branch Manager, perform a variety of building pier, and equipment maintenance tasks of a level of difficulty at the semi-journeyman level.
- →May provide advice or assistance to other maintenance workers and laborers working in assigned duties.
- →Performs tasks in the following categories: 1.
- →Incumbent operates various heavy equipment and does general handling (including rigging) of boats in support of the winter storage program and the summer mooring program.
- →Such equipment shall include forklifts, con-o-lift trailer, various hoisting tackle, mast stepping crane, shrink wrapping equipment and pressure washing machine. 2.
- →Welding: Performs structural maintenance and repairs of star docks, moorings, and pier which may include cutting and welding.
- →In addition, also performs minor fiberglass repair and other structural repairs to the various facility boats. 3.
- →Makes improvements to existing departmental facilities through minor carpentry and mechanical skills.
- →Arranges for the equipment, supplies, and services needed to accomplish various maintenance projects.
- →Takes periodic inventory of maintenance stock and equipment as required. 4.
- →Maintains daily cleanliness of the facilities.
- →May perform janitorial tasks such as trash disposing, cleaning restrooms, and cleaning the buildings along with general housekeeping functions.
- →Performs other related duties as assigned.
