About the Role
This position serves as Maintenance Mechanic performing tasks involved in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Martinsburg VAMC building services that include carpentry and painting. Incumbent will be assigned to the Carpentry Shop.
What You'll Do
- →Duties may include but are not limited to; Repairs doors and door frames, to include changing and repairing locks and cores.
- →General knowledge of key cutting procedures.
- →Bores and installs different types of lock styles.
- →Interprets drawings, blueprints, and instruction manuals.
- →Measures and lays out work independently.
- →Ensures proper use of power tools such as electric mortar mixers, masonry saws, grinders, drills and hand tools such as trowels, chisels, and masonry hammers.
- →Grouts and purges walls and other surfaces.
- →Removes and repairs masonry structures.
- →Determines the layout, measurements, materials, and tools required to construct concrete structures (walls, slabs, footers, form, etc.).
- →Operates power tools such as gasoline powered trowel machine, concrete vibrators, saws, jack hammers, and hand tools such as floats, trowels, screeds, shovels, rakes, and Georgia buggies.
- →Operates heavy equipment such as a backhoe.
- →Uses formulas to calculate and determine various strengths and grades of concrete.
- →Assembles, constructs, reconstructs, and repairs metal furniture, shelving and other items pertaining to metal work.
- →Repairs and replaces all parts of bedside stands and cabinets and hospital equipment of various kinds.
Requirements
