About the Role
Primary Purpose: Independently performs maintenance used at the journeyman level of several occupations. The job performs a combination of maintenance, repair, modification, equipment operation and equipment inspection/certification involving diverse skills.
What You'll Do
- →Pipefitting: Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches in planning and laying out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operations of various piping system and equipment.
- →Control Work: Makes repairs on large and small systems where any numbers and types of pneumatic and electrical controls and relays are required to make the system operate at peak efficiency.
- →Work Schedule: Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Mechanic/PD047230 Physical Requirements: Work requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- →Frequently lifts and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally handles items weighing up to 100 Pounds.
- →Personal assistance and/or lifting devices are used when appropriate to prevent injury.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
