About the Role
This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 10) Battle Creek VA Medical Center. The incumbent to the position works within the Structural Maintenance Section of Facilities Management Service and works under the direct supervision of the Structural Maintenance Section Supervisor.
What You'll Do
- →The duties of the position may include but, are not limited to: Carpentry: Construction, alteration, repair or modification of items or structures including, but not limited to walls, ceilings, flooring systems, framework, rafters, doors, hardware, paneling, windows, furniture, interior and exterior trim, staircases, trusses, beams, cabinets, countertops, and interior & exterior signage.
- →Installs and repairs sloped and flat roofs with a variety of material including shingles, EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomor), and TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin).
- →Movement and installation of office furniture.
- →Plaster/Drywall: Surface preparation, application of special coatings, application techniques, installation and finish of plaster and drywall systems.
- →Painting: Mixing, applying and finishing paint coatings in any of the accepted trade methods.
- →Determine the methods, techniques, devices and materials that are best suited to the finish required.
- →Installation of wallcoverings.
- →Ceramic Tile/Flooring: Repair, alteration, removal, and installation of various flooring systems.
- →These systems will include floor tile (both vinyl and ceramic), linoleum, vinyl sheet goods (including seamless flooring), and carpeting.
- →Masonry/Concrete: Installation and repair of brick, block, stone, and concrete in the construction or repair of partitions, walls, walkways, fireplaces, floors, door frames and stone.
- →Utilizes the MAXIMO Work Order management system to receive work assignments and document the completion of work.
- →Maintains updated training through the Talent Management System (TMS), virtual instructor lead courses and in person courses.
