About the Role

This vacancy is for a WG - 4749-10,Maintenance Mechanic located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG ACADEMY PUBLIC WORKS SECTION in NEW LONDON, Connecticut.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-10 and be responsible for preventative, emergency, and routine service work as a Maintenance Mechanic in refrigeration, heating ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing trades throughout the grounds.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Logging expenditures of time and materials; and scheduling, accomplishing, and recording completion of work tasks.
  • Following established preventative maintenance schedules and manufactures maintenance instructions.
  • Repairing and maintaining large air conditioning systems that performs a variety of functions including heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating.
  • Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers.
  • Maintaining, repairing, and installing as necessary water distribution systems and components.
