About the Role
This position is located in Big Cypress National Preserve, in the Division of Facilities Management. This position is Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.
What You'll Do
- →The primary purpose of this position is to supervise trades and labor work on a regular, recurring, and substantially full-time and continuing basis.
- →As a supervisor, the incumbent applies experience in and knowledge of trades and labor work in order to exercise technical and administrative supervision over a variety of subordinate trades occupations.
- →Provide technical and administrative supervision over subordinates performing various trades and labor occupations such as Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Worker, Electrician, Engineering Equipment Operator, Mason, Utility Systems Repairer-Operator, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, Plumber, Wood Crafter, Carpenter, etc.
- →Develop and review estimates, technical reports, plans, and specifications; project labor, equipment, and material requirements; and develop financial plans.
- →Build and maintain effective cooperative partnerships, establishing and maintaining working relationships with management, district supervisors, vendors, contractors, cooperating organizations, partnership associations, concessionaires, government agencies, community and volunteer groups, environmental organizations, and other special interest groups.
- →Responsible for ensuring equal opportunity for all employees supervised, and in the selection of employees for training, promotions, awards and recognition, and career development opportunities.
- →Ensures that safety rules are followed, monitors work in progress for proper sequence, procedures, methods, and meets deadlines.
- →Reports to supervisor on progress of work and causes of work delays; answers questions of supervisor on overall work operations and status.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓You may be required to occasionally travel overnight away from home.
- ✓You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- ✓Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- ✓As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1 year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
- ✓This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service.
