This position serves as the Logistics Management Specialist with responsibility for direction and control of logistics planning that includes multiple activities and may include geographically separated areas where no supply chain management personnel are assigned.
What You'll Do
- →The primary purpose of this position is to direct, develop and implement policy programs and procedures for the accurate management of Supply Chain Management (SCM) planning and provides administrative and technical oversight to a lower-graded specialist.
- →Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Integration - Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel/activities.
- →Establishes procedures for the integrated efforts of SCM operations with services throughout the VAMC and supported activities for mission essential deployment of SCM EMRT planning.
- →Ensures that all assigned personnel and equipment are properly identified and prepared for deployment during simulated and actual emergency response exercises.
- →Performs logistical assessments of strategic supply support in coordination with the supported customers and alerts management of systemic problems.
- →Troubleshoots and resolves issues where supply chain deficiencies affect the mission.
- →Develops designated supply input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material for reasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions.
- →Analytics - Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services.
- →Develops ongoing strategic analyses across supply chain activities and recommends solutions for improvements.
- →Researches and studies private industry as well as Department of Veteran Affairs best practices to develop and apply concepts that best fit and support Supply Chain requirements.
- →Supports long range supply chain requirements and interactions, optimizing supply chain support.
- →Training and Customer Service - Develops logistics and supply chain management training opportunities and customer supply chain systems, programs, support offerings, supplies and services to collaborative partners and customers.
- →Participates in the development of education and training documentation.
- →Communicates with customers and personnel on the role logistics plays in maintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness and sustainability.
