This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Birmingham Disaster Loan Service Center in Birmingham, AL. The incumbent(s) assist customers from the time the proceeds of a disaster loan are disbursed until the loan is paid off. Incumbent serves as a Loan Servicing Assistant and is responsible for assisting Loan Specialists in servicing or liquidating a full range of disaster business and home loans.
What You'll Do
- →As a/an Loan Servicing Assistant at theGS- 1101-7, some of your typical work assignments may include: Analyzes financial statements of SBA disaster loans which are or are considered potential problems.
- →Compares present previous statements to determine trends in financial conditions and compliance with loan terms and conditions.
- →Follows up with borrowers or banks on any serious violations noted.
- →Independently services a selected portfolio of disaster loans.
- →Concentrates on those over 30 days past due by initiating collection letters and contacting borrowers by telephone by the use of Predictive-Dialing System (Autodial).
- →Contacts borrowers who are less delinquent in order to determine the cause of the delinquency and propose corrective action for resolving the problem.
- →Answers verbal and written requests from banks and borrowers and other financial institutions concerning payments on loans, interest rates, loan balances, terms conditions, and other credit information.
- →Provides superior customer service to internal and external stakeholders regarding disaster loan portfolio.
- →Supports the Liquidation Team in handling problem accounts which require enforced collection measures or other actions within the scope of existing disaster authority consistent with the applicable laws, regulations and procedures in order to protect the interest of the government.
- →IMPORTANT NOTES This is a TERM appointment.
- →The Term appointment does not confer competitive status, reinstatement rights, or eligibility for non-competitive conversion to a permanent job to the individual(s) selected.
- →You may be promoted or reassigned to another term position within SBA's Office of Capital Access; however, you may not be non-competitively appointed to another Federal position.
- →You will be given an initial Term Appointment lasting more than 1 year, but not more than 4 years.
- →If all other conditions of employment are met, this appointment may be extended, up to a total of four (4) years in increments determined by SBA.
Requirements

- ✓Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S.
- ✓Department of Education.
