About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The LVN is an advocate for the patient and the patient's family and promotes safety by practicing within their scope of practice and in accordance with local policy and procedures. "LVN scope of practice does not include acts of medical diagnosis or the prescription of therapeutic or corrective measures.
  • The practice of vocational nursing must be performed under the supervision of an RN, APRN, physician, physician assistant, podiatrist or dentist.
  • Each assigned LVN will conduct blood pressure and glucose checks as ordered by provider staff.
  • All clinical documentation is entered in the electronic patient record with strict security protocols followed.
  • Recognizes side effects of medications; reports observation.
  • Provides patient education concerning medications and reinforces education initiated by the Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize care delivery, considering the patients individual needs, condition, and the overall needs of the unit.
  • Takes and records vital signs including pain level.
  • Reports abnormal vital signs and pain level immediately to the Registered Nurse.
  • Initiates interventions outlined in the plan of care.
  • Assist with implementation of changes in processes to improve patient care.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:45 am to 04:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
