About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse - Specialty Medicine at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center provides care and counseling of Veterans and promotes maintenance of healthy living in the prevention of illness, injury, and chronic disease by using the nursing process including systematic data collecting, patient monitoring , nursing judgement, and evaluation of human response to actual or potential health problems.
What You'll Do
- →Performs, records, and reports assigned nursing care duties in the Ambulatory Care Clinics, including: Oxygen therapy, immunization and medication administration, and finger stick blood glucose tests.
- →Completes additional competency training to include downloading glucose meter or Insulin Pump, Continuous Glucose Monitor insertion, Zio Patch, EKG, venipuncture, and PVR bladder scans.
- →Assists with delegated minor procedures and treatments including obtaining and maintaining necessary equipment and supplies, positioning patient, and ensuring comfort and privacy.
- →Provides patient and family health education or instruction.
- →Other duties as assigned.
- →Work Schedule: Intermittent, Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees serve under an excepted or competitive service appointment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty.
- →A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance.
