What You'll Do
- →If selected for this position, you will serve as a Case Manager in the Criminal or Civil Division providing a wide range of legal and administrative services to one or more Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) involved in a variety of criminal or civil matters for the United States Attorney's Office, District of Nebraska.
- →Typical duties include: Receiving, organizing and storing incoming discovery and evidentiary materials and tracks their receipt.
- →Managing discovery in a variety of formats, including paper documents, PDF files, image files, audio files, video files, forensic reports, proprietary files, and other electronic file types.
- →Using software applications to perform basic processing of electronic discovery materials.
- →Providing technical support in discovery management, such as downloading and duplicating electronic files, creating searchable versions, redacting sensitive information, etc.
- →Organizing and preparing written summaries of witness statements and testimony, audio or video recordings, and documentary evidence.
- →Preparing exhibits and demonstratives for use in legal proceedings.
- →Providing support to legal team during court proceedings, e.g., using trial presentation software and courtroom equipment to display exhibits or demonstratives, maintaining accounting system of exhibits entered into evidence, and managing witnesses.
- →Providing general administrative support for assigned cases by entering and updating information about pending cases in case management software.
- →Conducting factual and legal research in legal and nonlegal databases in support of investigations and cases.
- →Drafting routine legal documents such as routine motions, pretrial filings, summonses, subpoenas, satisfactions of judgements, and other routine legal documents.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- ✓All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
- ✓Department of Education.
