This vacancy is for a GS-0801-14, Lead Systems Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Acquisition Programs Directorate CG-SEA-A7, MAJOR SYSTEMS ACQUISITION PROGRAM MANAGER -WCC -CG-9327 in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Lead Systems Engineer for the US Coast Guard's Waterways and Commerce Cutter Acquisition Program and be responsible for developing, replacing and/or upgrading systems on surface assets, as well as for shore-based systems and aviation platforms.
- →Incumbent serves as a technical expert in assessment of systems engineering and architecture of inter-related systems and components; these may include sensors, communications, and decision support systems, computer systems, software systems and network infrastructure that support the breadth of USCG systems.
- →You will be expected to lead and manage the Waterways and Commerce Cutter Technical Integrated Product Team and drive the development of hull, machinery, and electrical (HM&E), as well as command, control, communications, computers, cyber and intelligence (C5I) processes, artifacts, and systems to usher the tangible production and delivery of surface assets in partnership with industry.
- →You may also be asked to support emerging acquisitions if and when the Waterways and Commerce Cutter Program Office is tasked with additional USCG surface fleet recapitalization efforts.
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Performing independent in-depth technical assessments; engineering, safety, and mission assurance trend analysis; systems engineering analysis; and the resolution of technical issues.
- →Evaluating proposals, planning, and designing documents for technical merit; identifying and resolving issues of project scope, cost, and resources.
- →Serving as a technical expert in assessment of systems engineering and architecture of inter-related systems and components.
- →Serving as the primary acquisition technical support advisor to acquisition projects, testing management oversight teams, and systems engineering activities.
- →Providing technical oversight of contractor work and deliverables, including review of all technical documents, plans and other material for adequacy and compliance with the contract requirements.
- →Serving as the lead engineer for the Waterways Commerce Cutter directorate, directing and advising colleagues of subordinate paygrade, and leading cross-directorate and interagency Integrated Product Teams.

- ✓Project Management Professional, DoD/DHS Program/Project Manager, and/or Certified Systems Engineer Professional credentialing desired but not required.
