About the Role
This position is located in the Office of Worker's Compensation Programs (OWCP), Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Programs (DEEOIC), Branch of Technical Procedures, Medical and Health Sciences Unit (MHSU). The mission of DEEOIC is to administer the benefits provisions of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Act (EEOICPA).
What You'll Do
- →As a Lead Nurse, GS-0610-13, you will: Lead the team in assessing its strengths and weaknesses and provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made (e.g., in work methods, processes and procedures).
- →Lead the team in: identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization; making adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks.
- →Serve as a technical resource for the District Offices for medical issues (some with an exceptional degree of complexity) Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
- →Coordinate and conduct outreach and training to medical providers and other stakeholders, DEEOIC staff, other Federal Agencies, and the general public.
- →Coordinate with and assist the claim examiner in efforts to evaluate and interpret medical evidence; contacts physicians and others to obtain necessary medical documentation and rationale when needed.
- →Research, learn and apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
- →Provide relevant input into the planning, development, and coordination of EEOICPA medical policy embedded in the OWCP Bill Processing System, and designs and conducts studies to analyze the results of changes.
- →Communicate and coordinate with health care providers to assess appropriate levels of home health care and durable medical equipment needs to ensure the care the claimant receives reflects the policies and procedures of DEEOIC.
Requirements
- ✓No educational substitution for the GS-13.
- ✓But must meet the Individual Occupational Requirement above.
- ✓Any applicant falsely claiming an academic degree from an accredited school will be subject to actions ranging from disqualification from federal employment to removal from federal service.
