What You'll Do
- →Serve as Lead Firefighter directing the work of one or more firefighting crews engaged in firefighting activities and hazardous material emergency responses.
- →Assist in the cleanup and disposal of unburied, spilled or damaged hazardous materials and chemicals.
- →Conducts training for shift in ladder deployment, hose handling, and vehicle operation and emergency service subjects using resource material from recognized sources of reference.
- →Directs on-the-job training for subordinates in areas such as pre-fire planning, fire inspections, vehicle and equipment inspections and minor repair.
- →Assumes immediate initial control of fire and emergency scenes until arrival of more senior fire officers.
- →Assign work tasks involving structural and/or wildland firefighting, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials emergency responses and standbys for hazardous operations.
- →Plans work schedules, for assigned crew, with sequence to operation to provide equitable work distribution amongst crews on duty.
- →Sets immediate and short-term objectives and goals for the shift based on given priorities.
