About the Position: This position serves as the IT Specialist (Systems Administration) within the Information Management Division located in the Department of Pathology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Core hours for the position are: 40hrs / Week (M-F) This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Manages, configures, and maintains core LIS databases and applications.
- →Coordinates and troubleshoots data exchanges, HL7 messaging, ASTM protocols, and middleware interfaces between clinical analyzers, middleware engines, and electronic health record systems.
- →Administers Windows servers, virtualized host environments, and associated storage infrastructure hosting LIS components.
- →Performs daily operational checks, backups, system patching, and disaster recovery validation.
- →Enforces Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) across all laboratory IT assets.
- →Remediates vulnerabilities identified via ACAS/SCAP scans, coordinate Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs), and support Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation.
- →Provides Tier-2/3 technical support for specialized laboratory workstations, barcode scanners, specimen label printers, and point-of-care testing (POCT) endpoints in clinical environments.
- →Maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs), system topology diagrams, change management logs, and validation documentation in compliance with DOD/DOW, CAP (College of American Pathologists), CLIA, and federal inspection standards.
